HANNI feels like a very probable Australian answer to the sophisticated pop smarts of the dark, brooding popstars she’s a fan of like Olivia O’Brien and Sasha Sloan.
Crazy, the second single ever by the 18-year-old Brisbanite (is that a thing?) is “about liking someone for a long time, but because of timing, factors out of your control and outside influences you have never taken that next step,” which could easily be #COVIDcontent but is ABSOLUTELY a mood anyway.
There’s a weird comfort that I feel from this song, it’s almost like there’s a sense of being somewhat resigned to the fact that the relationship in question will be like this forever.
Her huge voice, sharp sample-heavy production and confidence in the songwriting has me really excited for what we’ll learn about this artist in the songs to come. One. To. Watch.
