Cub Scouts have officially changed their name to Cub Sport

Summer-pop enthusiasts Cub Scouts have officially changed their name to Cub Sport to avoid being sued for a lot of money.

Scouts Australia mailed the band last month saying their name ‘conflicted with the registered trademark of Cub Scout’. Cub Scout are an arm of Scouts Australia and its activities focuses on younger scout hopefuls.

“Some of the band cracked up laughing when our manager told us about the letter but I was just in shock because I don’t think we are a particularly offensive band,” lead singer Tim Nelson told Kathy McCabe.

They thought with their focus to release more music internationally that it would be a good idea to sort it out now rather than have an angry mob of khaki wearing 8-10 year olds knock on their door a few years down the track.

Apparently the name was chosen from an initial list of around 50. We hope ‘Panda Cubs’ was on it.

They’ve also just plonked the video for Paradise on their YouTube under the new name.

We’ll have a lively chat with Tim Nelson posted on the internet this week.
