Airling’s new single ‘Wasted Pilots’ is full of sad words and happy sounds

Airling is an Australian pop thing we’ve had our eyes on for a little while and her third single, Wasted Pilots, is an excellent sign of a star in the making.

After she tried it and a bunch of other stuff from a Sept 14 slated EP out at Splendour In The Grass, thanks to triple j unearthed putting her on the stage, she’s ready to show everyone her work, produced by Tom Iansek from Big Scary who seems to be doing everything under the sun lately. It’s perfect shades of glistening pop perfection, heartbreaking lyricism and breezy vocal ability.

The song’s called Wasted Pilots because ‘the character in the song has lost everything and keeps taking blows completely beyond their control, so that their journey in life is like a plane that’s being flown by “wasted pilots”‘. So there’s that.

Airling, whose real name is Hannah, will release Love Gracefully on September 19 and tour it around in October.

DATES SHE’S SINGING LIVE

MELBOURNE: Friday 17th October – Shebeen
SYDNEY: Saturday 18th October – Brighton Up Bar
BRISBANE: Friday 24th October – The Brightside
